August 30, 2024The DCG412 angle grinder has existed for many years both as an 18V tool and now as a 20V tool. During this time, the tool has received a few design changes and the included accessories have changed. Unfortunately Dewalt's product photos and product description are out-of-date.
The tool I received came with a silver Type 27 guard (not Type 1) and an Allen wrench (not the standard angle grinder wrench). But the angle grinder works as expected and I'm happy with it.
Dewalt says the grinder has tool-free disc removal. Nope. I bought a standard angle grinder wrench which is much better than the cheap Allen wrench.
If you need a Type 1 guard, the recommended Dewalt guard doesn't fit. Try the Black+Decker Type 1 guard #N311419.
Solid and easy to use.

August 11, 2023This grinder is sturdy and easy to use. The cordless design give the user great flexibility when grinding out of doors. The only thing lacking was a disk wrench. That is not exactly true as it dd come with a hex wrench that does the job well enough. The only problem is that it's hard to keep up with the hex key (Allen Wrench). It would be nice if there was some way to store the hex key with (inside?) the grinder handle. If you take the grinder to the field and forget the Allen key, you're out of luck if you want to change a disk. The other reality is that the batteries don't last too long if doing heavy grinding. I went through 4 batteries and still didn't finish my job recently. That is not the grinder's fault. It's just a reality of using battery powered tools for heavy work. No one seems to want to talk about that these days. Because of this limitation, I decided to get a corded grinder as well. I would still recommend this one for smaller jobs or jobs where you do not have access to a plug. It is well-made, very portable, and a joy to use, as long as the battery lasts!
Right tool at the right price and it was instock.

July 9, 2024This thing is great. I needed a grinder to cut the nut and race off of a trailer axel that had been run without grease. The wheel and hub had run out over the locknut causing it to bind and freeze up. I purchased the grinder and used my 5AH battery. I also got a cutoff wheel to use. This cut through the nut and the race and this released them so I could remove them without damaging the shaft. It cit faster than I had thought it would. The price was lower at Ace than all the other stores around and they had it ready in 15 minutes. I am very pleased with this purchase.
Good grinder if used right

April 14, 2024Just bought this cordless grinder works great if u got 2 batteries to always have one charging .
Much like any cordless tools If ur framing a house U use a CORDED skilsaw not a cordless .
If U want to cut a few pces of wood cordless great . If ur cuting 10- 4"X4" 1/2" angle iron use a CORDED grinder or metal chop saw not a cordless I just cut 6- 1-1/2"X 1-1/2" steel angle iron No Problem .
When using a cordless tool dont push it hard like U can a corded tool let the tool do the work with a sharp proper blade or bit ur battery will last much longer also dont wait till ur first battery is dead & too hot to recharge once its half down on charge switch batteries & keep recharging & U'll keep ur tool working Not trying to sound like a no it all but I am a retired contractor
