Setting up annoying, but works well

I have/had the same issues with connection when initially connecting the printer but it did work. My hubs is in IT and he figured out that you have to first connect the printer via hardline to a computer or laptop, and THEN when the router picks up the printer and vice versa, the printer can then be connected via bluetooth. They don't tell you this and this is not in the manual. That said, our previous Canon printer just ultimately died, but my hubs had it in college or something before he met me. So he got his money's worth from it. That printer was only connected to HIS computer, and I would always have to send myself something, open my email on his computer, and print from there. It did not have the ability to connect to multiple computers unless it was hardlined. Maybe bluetooth back then was way worse? Who knows. Anyway, the convenience of this bluetooth connection is lovely. We can both print from our separate computers to the printer, from a laptop, or whatever. PLEASE give this printer a chance. Do what I did, and you should have no issues. I have the app and after using a hardline connection, we had no issues connecting via bluetooth. Minus one star for trouble connecting. Four stars for ease of use after connection and quality.

So I was nervous buying this printer because all of the bad reviews on connecting it to wifi. Well I ran into the same issues and searching YouTube, Google, and yes Canon. So lately I have been looking at Amazon reviews and finding solutions because some people leave excellent details in their reviews. So I found a review on this printer on Amazon and followed it, then was connected in 20 minutes. It was weird. So you have to connect through your phone first. My phone or computer couldn't find the printer. I almost returned it. Make sure to download the Canon print app, and if yours is old, uninstall then reinstall because updating won't be the same. On your phone you have to first turn off your wifi, then add Canon_ij_30397_MG3600series as a wifi with no password to your phone. It will say not connected, but go through the steps on the app and it will say you need to be connected, then I selected my home wifi and it connected. It took a couple of tries but make sure your printer is blinking the wifi button which you get by turning off, then on, press wifi button, then color button, then wifi button again and it will blink like it's pairing. Then once you connect on your phone, it will pick up on your computer within minutes. After hours of pulling out my hair, this worked for me. Hope this helps.

THIS REVIEW ONLY COVERS INSTALLATION.
Canon has you download and installation program from their website. It has two flaws that make it useless.
1. First it tries to connect your device to the printer without ever connecting the printer to the network first. This is physically impossible. It can't be recognized unless it's part of the network.
2. After that obviously fails, they have you attempt a method known as WPS to connect the printer to the network. This is outdated and obsolete. Internet providers have removed that functionality from their routers siting security concerns.

Now you're left with no way to use THEIR installation program to install THEIR printer.

After searching YouTube, I found a video that shows how to get it connected. The short version is:
1. Download the Canon PRINT app from Google Play to your phone.
2 It will walk you thru a setup process that identifies the network name and pswd to the printer and allows it to connect to the network.
3. After that, you can just use the Windows printer setup in printer settings to connect your laptop or PC to the printer.

As an added bonus, because the app is on your phone, you can print from your phone as well.

Do note from the above that it was a Canon app used for the install. If Canon had simply provided that in the instructions, it would've been a painless install. Why they would give you a program that has no way of working is beyond any understanding.
Worst Printer'-Missing Crucial Set Up Guidance

I have attempted to do all that was in my ability/knowledge to do to install this printer for several months since initially making this purchase in 2023 Late April/Early May!! Despite my determination as well as my family's attempts to install this printer the last 5-6 months, I have never been able to print 1 document. I have put many hours into comprehending why or what was preventing it from printing and actually thought I was getting close once to connect and communicate to the other devices but each attempt completely failed. I thought it was probably me and my ability to comprehend, I supposed, such complicated connectivity issues. This process has been a very discouraging, extremely stressful and frustrating experience and process to then never have the completed result of obtaining this printer to print for me. The directions were very vague and never produced a fully completed installation, despite putting all I could into getting it to print. I recently read several customer reviews on this same printer and discovered other customers also found it equally discouraging to get it to communicate with the other devices. I read some customers that seemed to have a lot of computer and printer knowledge had to purchase a product/device to get it to finally print as intended, but I without such extensive knowledge and wasted my time and over $100 I paid in Spring 2023 time frame. I am now in possession of a very pretty red Canon Printer that I don't know what to do with (I am unable to comprehend and share with a possible individual that would maybe even consider purchasing it from me! I have literally seriously putting at the curb with the the trash to pick it up!! Who is going to buy this from me if I can't explain or the paperwork it came with was written inaccurately and not for the regular consumer? Please, I ask you to please go back and read the negative comments other customers shared with your customers!! I don't comprehend the exact problem verbatim but the printer was unable to adequately communicate with the other items, be it a computer or modem, etc.. to get this printer to be set up and used in a timely manner. I finally just gave up. I purchased a Canon printer from Staples, in 2023 November, 6 months after doing all within my ability to get the first Canon All in One Printer to do all as described it could do but never followed through. I was finally able to print documents yesterday on the new, perhaps more basic and or less complicated directions to set up a printer. I thought it was something wrong with my comprehension of how to set up this printer but now know it was something missing in the installation directions. It would be great to get a refund for all the frustrations I experienced trying to install this printer but believing it was my fault and determination to install it as I have other printers throughout the years created my inability to even attempt to obtain a refund.
