Early review but so far I like it
Jesse L.· Review provided by eberlestock.com · October 6, 2024
This is a very early review. I am unsure why Eberlestock wants a review before I've really had a chance to use the product heavily, but here goes.

Overall, I really like the bag. I have heavily used Eberlestock products while deployed to the Middle East and deeply appreciate their quality, reliability, design, and features. This fanny pack seems to be in line with those same ideals that I have come to expect from Eberlestock. It is simple yet feature-rich enough to be useful without being obnoxious.

I gave this review four stars instead of five for a few reasons:
- The tourniquet elastic band in the main (non CCW) pocket is too tight to hold a CAT tourniquet without making it difficult to remove from the elastic band. It needs to be just a little looser to facilitate rapid deployment, as it was definitely a two-handed tug of war to get the thing out--and that was in calm, non fight or flight environment. It's not impossible, but it shouldn't be that hard--and I can only imagine trying to retrieve it in the midst of an epi-dump with most fine motor skills out the window. With that being said, perhaps it isn't an official TQ sleeve (and nowhere does it say on their website it's designed for the CAT TQ specifically). So I may be being a bit hard on Eberlestock. Still, a redesign of that feature or a way to adjust it with velcro (or to replace the elastic with velcro and a pull tab) would be worth considering for the future.
- I wish the corners were a bit more rounded for the CCW pouch compartment. Getting the zipper around the corner isn't as smooth as it potentially could be. Since this product is still new to me, I have yet to fully get my zipper configuration set the way I like, but I think I'll start by having each zipper on either side of the corner, so neither has to go around the 90 degree angle. Hopefully the zippers don't creep, i.e., gap, at the corner due to gravity and/or movement.
- It would be extremely helpful to have a small portion of the waistband incorporate elastic material to allow the pack strap to give and take during movement. I have incorporated this into my normal CCW holster rig, and the elastic panel has made it significantly more comfortable to wear, especially when bending over, squatting, flexing, etc. Even if the an elastic strap add-on were available--that would be fine too.

In terms of fit, I have a Springfield Hellcat Pro (no light or optic). I am using a Crossbreed Modular Holster (it's velcro-backed). It is a snug fit, and I don't have the space to create the draw angle I would prefer, as the zipper snags on the rear site if I cant the handgun upwards too much to allow for a more natural draw stroke. (NOTE: In the photo attached to this review, the gun is canted significantly. I've since had to readjust the holster so the gun is a bit closer to parallel with the ground because of the zipper snag issue just mentioned.) I also purchased a Crossbreed Modular Magazine Holster (also velcro backed), but I have yet to get it to fit inside the CCW pocket along with the handgun.

In hindsight, perhaps the larger pack would've been something to consider; however, I don't want a giant fanny pack. I want something small, something nondescript that is the furthest thing from "tacticool." This is not my primary carry method, but I needed a solid alternative when on-body carry truly wasn't feasible or in my best interest.
Almost perfect conceal carry fanny/sling pack

I bought the XL version, even though i carry a Hellcat Pro, to make sure i had enough room to position my handgun the way i wanted, and still be able to have other essentials in the other pouches.

If you tuck the other zipper ends into their "garage" pouches, they stay out of the way of the "main" zipper pulls for your CCW, and by not replacing the other zipper pulls with something else, the CCW pocket's zipper pulls stand out less.

That said, the corners of the top of the bag/zip track are a little too acute/sharp too be able to easily zip open one handed or rip open like some other brands can.

I added a nylon webbing pull tab to the inside front of the CCW pouch (the non loop side) about in the middle of the top track length, with enough excess that it reaches the corner of the zip track/pack. I then removed the zipper pulls and attached them to the webbing, so that the pulls still stick out with the zippers themselves pulled shut pinching the pulls, and have this staged at the sharp corner.
This allows me to wear the pack as a sling and rip open the CCW compartment with my non dominant hand, giving me access to my holstered/velcroed CCW.

That said, depending on what you have in the other pockets and how they're arranged in there, it can mess up the "grip and rip) move and the bag can crumple, preventing quick/easy access to the handgun's grip.

If the top corners of the bag were more rounded, and the fabric between the CCW compartment and the other compartments reinforced with some stiffer sheet, it would be easier to rip open the pouch one handed without worrying about how you fill the rest of the pack.

For me, the strap length was sufficient to wear as a sling bag (5'6”, 165lb, 40” chest, chonky athletic build).

All in all though, I'm quite happy with the bag and the cobalt blue color definitely helps mask the fact that this is a CCW bag. The plain grey option might be better as the zipper track isn't a contrasting color, so is even less noticeable that there's another pocket in the back.
Just About Perfect

Just picked up the XL bag and can see myself purchasing a few more for different uses.

Not much to say on overall fit/finish/quality of the bag except that it's excellent.

The rear compartment is large enough for a variety of handguns. For size reference, while not ideal, it can fit a Glock 20 with SF X300 and 509T optic. Has no problem fitting your typical G19/365/etc. w/ optic and spare mag.

I feel the included elastic band missed the mark in being useful for weapon retention, however there are enough aftermarket 'universal velcro holster' options out there that fit the bill (Maxpedition, Vertx, SOE, to name a few). Did end up running a few stitches through the band to snug it up and repurposed it as a sort of mag carrier inside the rear compartment.

The main compartment holds more than expected, and the pocket layout seems to work extremely well. The integrated sleeve is a slick idea and great location for quick TQ or OC access.

The only gripe I have with the design is the zipper configuration. While the rear compartment uses double zippers, the main and front compartments only use single zippers. This dictates that both of these zipper pulls end up on the right side of the pouch (user's perspective) to be in the closed position. While not a huge hindrance, this could be an area of consideration for those who also want to stage the rear zippers (pistol compartment) on this same side as well. My suggestion would be to run double zippers all around and allow the end user to stage zipper placement as they see fit.
One solution for the current configuration is to place the zippers ~1" off the upper corner creating a small opening -- you can then hook a thumb/fingers inside the pouch, grab the entire face of the bag and pull forward, giving quick access to your pistol. A bit quicker/easier and don't have to worry about which zipper pull you're tugging on.

Overall a great piece of gear and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone.

Sure, here is the reworded text:

Alright, let's get real here, this review is specifically for the ladies or perhaps the more fashion-conscious gentlemen out there. As someone who values both functionality and style, I think this product strikes a great balance for those casual days when your outfit doesn't accommodate carrying things on your body. I find it to be just as stylish as a Lululemon belt bag, very much like the All Day Essentials Lululemon 2.5L belt bag. I wear it across my body, and I adjust it to the loosest setting to ensure I can easily put it on and take it off. However, if you have a larger build than a women's large on top, I would recommend buying the longer belted version directly from Eberlestock. I opted for the XL size, and it easily accommodates my Sig P365 XL with a modular hook and loop holster, phone, keys, small wallet, and a few other essentials. I keep my pepper gel spray in the top elastic compartment, and I appreciate the mesh zip inside the main compartment for items like bandaids and lip balm. I deducted one star for comfort due to the strap not being as "soft" as the Lululemon strap, sometimes causing discomfort around my neck. Nevertheless, this is a worthwhile investment, sparing me the need to improvise with my Lulu belt bag for safe carrying.

The zippers are decent; I appreciate the inclusion of easy pull tabs, although at times I find them a bit challenging to open, especially around the corners of the bag. Naturally, with any "off body carry" option, the draw is slower, but a slow draw is better than no draw!

I conducted extensive research before settling on an off body carry bag, and I'm extremely satisfied with my choice!
