[Rewarded Review] As advertised, which is really important when you lose power

I was originally going to give this a 3-star rating, but have since changed my mind. The unit that was first shipped to me, had battery issues. The unit would not recognize the battery, which makes the thing kind of pointless. I reached out to APC support, and they walked me through a number of troubleshooting things. None of them worked. So they sent me a new battery. The new battery arrived right away, even though it was around the holiday season. Unfortunately, the new battery gave the same problems. After reaching out to APC tech support again, they realized that the unit itself was likely defective, and immediately shipped out a new unit. All I had to do was confirm the purchase date from B&H by sending them a copy of my purchase receipt, and it was done. They had sent me a battery and a new unit all within a two-week period. Thankfully, the new unit works perfectly.

I bumped the rating because, for me, customer service matters A LOT for technology like this. It's not only expensive, but it has to work properly when it's needed. Where I live, we get bad weather often, and power outages happen frequently. I need at least a few minutes to power things down without any threat of surges or issues that would corrupt hard drives, or other expensive technology. The support from APC to fix the issue in a very quick manner, with very little hassle, was awesome! The best part, is when I did have an outage about a week ago, the battery backup kicked in the way it's supposed to. All of my equipment continued to stay live, allowing me to save information, power down properly, and safely preserve my equipment.

I wan't excited to spend this kind of money on equipment like this, but the service I received, and the reliability of the unit, has already proved its worth.
ROCK SOLID / Excellent Value!

The PowerChute app that comes with this model APC is simple, requires almost zero resources, and delivers amazing details such as blackout (power loss), undervoltage, overvoltage, and electrical noise monitoring stats. The ability to run self-test is useful. This model has customizable options such as "runtime" a real time estimate of how long your protected device (I use this for my PC, monitor, and network connection) will run uninterrupted if all power is lost. The user can easily and intuitively set options for sensitivity (max allowable voltage and min allowable voltage) for switching from AC to battery power, as well as notifications setting. I run this on Windows 11 with no issues whatsoever. This UPS connects to the PC using a USB cable. Another feature of this model, not available on cheaper models, is the ability to run the ethernet connection through the UPS via a network IN and network OUT ports. Therefore, you cannot get a power surge even if using ethernet connection. The device also gives a real time estimate of energy use, costs of use, and carbon footprint information, all on your PC screen. Should you choose to not use this optional app, the UPS has a well-lit screen right on the device itself (see photos on product description) that will also deliver much of the same information including how long the plugged-in device(s) will run on complete power failure. You can customize proper Windows auto-shut down procedures to your PC, in the event of power loss. I highly recommend this product. I now have 4 UPC's and am extremely satisfied. As for longevity, there is a mfg's warranty of 3 years. Registration is simple and fast. Once you reach the end of the battery life (which in my experience will be longer than 3 years) you can replace just the battery for far cheaper than buying a whole new UPS system.
[Rewarded Review] Prevents Catastrophes to your Career!

Just what we needed to provide uninterrupted power to our Macs and PCs, in the Studio, and in the Office.

We recently suffered a power outage just as we were backing up a large, important file to disk. Had I lost that file completely, it could have seriously hurt my career!

The backup file was destroyed by the power outage. Fortunately, it was a backup and we were able to do it again once the power came back on, but we learned our lesson without suffering a catastrophe. I immediately bought this thing and I'm glad I did. It has plenty of power to run a substantial computer and a few peripherals. I URGE you to have this device (or one similar to it) to keep your computer and critical peripherals running during power outages. Keeping your critical gear running could prevent a career catastrophe!
[Rewarded Review] Absolutely worst battery life
Mark· Review provided by bhphotovideo.com · March 20, 2023
I purchased the APC Smart-UPS C 1000VA UPS which works absolutely great. I've had it for 3+ years and have had a few fail-overs where it kicked in and worked like a charm. Haven't had need to replace the battery at all to this day.

So I purchased a couple of these APC Battery Back-UPS Pro BX1500M units a year later expecting the same reliable performance and have been sorely disappointed.

Battery life is a joke. They have had maybe 2 times where they were needed and kicked in. Not long after the annoying alarm won't stay shut off. Constant beeping everyday that has to be manually turned off b/c it sounds off everyday. No way to shut the silly thing off permanently.

By the time I have replaced the batteries in both of these useless units I could have paid for the more expensive unit and saved $$$

Looking for another solution now. Probably will put these up for sale on Craigslist or something. Totally disappointed
