Just as the Samsung brand was beginning to recover following the disastrous – this happens.

A new incident has been reported in Canada.

Amarjit Mann, of Winnipeg, said he was driving when the Samsung Galaxy S7 in his pocket started to warm up.

According to CTV News, as soon as Mr Mann pulled the device from his pocket – it exploded, filling the car with smoke.

"I luckily threw it outside," Mr Mann told the news channel.

"It should have damaged my whole car. I just saw smoke and nothing else."

The Winnipeg man suffered second-degree burns to his hands and third-degree burns to his wrists.

He said doctors have warned him that he may be unable to work as a mechanic for some four weeks.

However Mr Mann is thankful the accident wasn't worse.

"I should've lost my eyes, or my cheeks or anything could have happened," he told CTV.

A spokesperson for Samsung Canada told CTV the technology firm would not issue a definitive statement on the incident without the opportunity to examine the remains of the phone to determine the cause of the explosion.

However the spokesperson added: "Customer safety remains our highest priority and we remain committed to working with any customer who has experienced an issue with a Samsung product."

Even after the issues with the Samsung Note 7, those who own a Galaxy S7 smartphone should not panic.

This purported incident is not a sign that there is anything wrong with the Galaxy S7 hardware.

Just because one individual handset malfunctions, it does not point to a widespread defect in the whole line.

Those who are concerned about any issues with the lithium-ion battery in their device should contact Samsung.
